Why do you work exclusively as a photo and film duo?
We believe that your wedding story is a single, cohesive narrative. Photography and film shouldn't just exist side-by-side; they should breathe together. By working as a unified duo, we eliminate the friction and chaos of competing crews. Our movements are synchronized, our aesthetic is identical, and our presence is half that of separate teams. This is the only way we can guarantee the quiet, undisturbed experience and the masterful artistic result Filmtau is known for.
How do you manage to remain 'invisible' during the wedding?
We don’t believe in turning your celebration into a production set. Our approach is rooted in quiet observation. We don’t use heavy lighting rigs or demand retakes. By analyzing the light and architecture of your venue in advance, we can anticipate moments rather than orchestrate them. You stay entirely present with your guests; we capture the energy as it naturally unfolds.
We aren’t used to being in front of a camera. Do we need to prepare?
Quite the opposite. The most profound images happen when you forget we are there. You never have to perform or "model" for us. Our goal is to create an environment where you feel completely unobserved. This freedom allows your natural connection to shine through, resulting in a legacy of images that feel authentic and timeless.
How long do you stay on the wedding day?
We don't believe in hourly counting. To tell a complete and meaningful story, we typically provide up to 12 hours of coverage on the wedding day itself—from the final stages of your preparation until the energy of the party is fully captured.
Beyond the main event, many of our couples also choose to document the entire experience. Especially for destination weddings in Vienna or Salzburg, the story often begins with an intimate rehearsal dinner the evening before or spans across a full wedding weekend. We create bespoke collections for these multi-day celebrations to ensure the entire narrative of your time in Austria is preserved without you ever feeling rushed.

How does the booking process work?
Get in Touch: Fill out our contact form with as many details as possible about your wedding, your vision, and your plans.
First Consultation: If we are available on your date, we’ll invite you to a relaxed video call. We want to hear your story, get to know each other, and talk through your expectations to make sure we’re the perfect fit.
Custom Proposal: Following our chat, we’ll send you a tailored offer outlining full photography and videography coverage for your celebration.
Securing Your Date: Once you accept the proposal, you'll receive the deposit invoice. Making the payment serves as your binding agreement and officially locks your date in our calendar!
Planning & Wedding Day: Leading up to your wedding, we stay in close touch to align on your timeline and details. On the day, the two of us will be right by your side to capture your story as it naturally unfolds.
We are planning our wedding from the US. How does the process work?
The majority of our couples are traveling from overseas, and we are highly experienced in coordinating across different time zones. From our initial video introduction to the seamless digital delivery of your gallery, our process is designed for your peace of mind. We act as your local experts in Vienna and Salzburg, ensuring that every visual detail of your destination experience is handled with absolute professionalism.
How many weddings do you document each year?
To ensure the uncompromising quality and personal attention our couples deserve, we strictly limit our commissions to 10 weddings per year. This allows us to be fully invested in your story, from the first planning call to the final meticulous edit of your film and gallery.
Delivery & Results
What kind of film can we expect?
We don't produce fast-paced, music-video-style edits that rely solely on a soundtrack. Our films are cinematic documentaries designed to let the day breathe. A defining element of our work is the use of continuous original sound. We place a profound emphasis on the authentic soundscape of your day—the laughter during a toast, the specific cadence of your vows, and the ambient sounds of your venue.
To truthfully reflect the narrative of your celebration, our films typically range between 8 and 12 minutes in length. This duration is carefully chosen to ensure your story has the space it needs to unfold naturally. Depending on the rhythm and the unique events of your day, we curate a film that preserves the soul of your wedding in a way that remains timeless and deeply personal.
What is your approach to photography?
We don’t view your wedding as a photoshoot, but as a series of unfolding moments. Our photography is rooted in the art of observation rather than direction. A defining aspect of our photography is the focus on 'atmospheric truth'. Instead of relying on heavy artificial lighting or forced editorial poses, we work with the natural light and the unique character of your venue.
We prioritize the quiet, in-between moments—a hand resting on a shoulder, the texture of the old-world architecture, or a shared glance that no one else saw. By capturing your day with this level of honesty and technical subtlety, we ensure your gallery feels less like a staged production and more like a collection of deeply personal, timeless art that truthfully reflects how your wedding felt.
When will we receive our film and photography gallery?
Excellence takes focus, but we know you are eager to relive your day. You will typically receive your curated photography story within 3 to 4 weeks. Your cinematic film—which undergoes a meticulous process of storytelling, sound design, and color grading—is usually delivered within 2 to 4 months. We believe in quality that lasts for generations, and we take the time to ensure every frame is perfect.
