Artful Documentation.

Unscripted Legacy.

"A unified photo and film duo for intimate weddings in historic palaces and villas. Based in Vienna and Salzburg. Unscripted, elegant, and entirely yours."

Weddings, as they unfold.

You want to live your wedding day—not perform for it.

You want to remember your celebration without having to interrupt it constantly for the sake of a photograph.

We do not stage your day; we preserve it,

allowing every moment its natural course.

Yet, a documentary approach never means remaining at a distance.

Should you seek gentle guidance—particularly during your portraits—

we are by your side as a calm, reassuring presence, ensuring you feel entirely at ease.

A film must be allowed to breathe.

Voices and atmosphere remain as authentic as the moment they were captured.

Photography is most profound when it has nothing to prove.

Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—not a movie set.

We document exclusive weddings within the historic palaces and villas of Salzburg and Vienna.

As a photography and film duo, we operate with discretion and an uncompromising artistic standard.

Our photographs and films speak the same language.

They are not created in parallel, but from a singular, shared vision.

Everything we capture converges into a cohesive narrative that preserves your celebration as a whole.

Our films and photographs reveal how we work.

"I searched for ages to finally find wedding photography that is neither kitsch nor pretentious."

"We wanted a record that captures the true spirit of our celebration and our connection, just as it was."

"I wanted someone with a documentary eye. Filmtau´s work lives somewhere between a history book and a dream you only half-remember. It was exactly right."

Why photography alone leaves the story incomplete.

A photograph can suspend a moment in time, but it cannot breathe. To choose photography alone is to preserve the aesthetic of the day while inadvertently losing its voice. An image captures the intimacy of an embrace—yet only film allows you to hear the words whispered within it, decades later.

This symbiosis cannot be forced between two separate teams. Independent vendors often bring an unintended restlessness to a celebration; the quiet friction of differing workflows and unaligned rhythms can unintentionally pull you away from the honesty of the moment.

As a dedicated duo, we operate as a single, silent entity. While Felix’s photography preserves the architectural grandeur and quiet emotion in timeless stills, Sarah’s film captures the rhythm of the celebration, the cadence of your vows, and the vibrant energy of the room.

The result is a cohesive narrative. Our photographs and films do not merely exist side-by-side; they inform one another. Sharing the same artistic handwriting and a profound respect for your guests, we create a visual legacy that can only be achieved through a singular, shared vision.

What makes our films different

"Dispensing with any form of staging, Sarah and Felix don’t direct; they observe. As an invisible duo, they blend seamlessly into the celebration to document the day in its purest form."

Is Filmtau the Right Fit?

You will find yourselves in our work if:

  • You prioritize presence over performance and value genuine connection.
  • You want your visual legacy to feel like one seamless, sophisticated piece of art.
  • You refuse to compromise on quality and want photo and film to feel like a perfect match.

We may not be the ideal match if:

  • You prefer to manage photography and video as separate, independent vendors.
  • You are looking for a highly staged, trend-driven photoshoot where directed portraits are the primary focus of the day.

Excellence Demands Focus

We are exclusively dedicated to documenting intimate weddings within the historic castles and villas of Salzburg and Vienna—operating with discretion, profound attention, and an uncompromising artistic standard. To ensure each couple receives our undivided focus and a truly bespoke experience, we accept only ten commissions per year.

Our work is deeply rooted in the architectural grandeur of this region. We understand the spatial dynamics and the nuances of light within these iconic settings—from imperial city palaces to exclusive lakeside estates.

As every celebration is inherently unique—from quiet welcome dinners to multi-day castle festivities—we curate custom collections tailored precisely to the narrative and flow of your weekend.

"Revisiting these moments in twenty years was our guiding vision. We weren't looking for staged shots, but for a time capsule that captures our humour and who we really are."
